To all ABQ Pickleball Club Members,
The ABQ Pickleball Club leadership strongly urges our members to follow the Governor’s stay-at-home instructions, made March 23, 2020, that all non-essential personnel stay home. The important link is https://www.kob.com/coronavirus/gov-lujan-grisham-issues-stay-at-home-instructions-to-stop-spread-of-covid-19/5682623/. If there are questions regarding the recommendations reference newmexico.gov for all the latest information.
We are being asked to act as responsible citizens in following the State directives in order not to overwhelm the capabilities of our medical system. The directive includes the rule of limiting gatherings to not over 5 people, and to maintain a 6-foot distance from each other when gathering in groups of 5. This means virtually no pickleball. We all know that this health emergency will pass, and we will be able to again play pickleball. Patience and time will be what is needed by our members.
Thank you for your understanding and please be safe until we can play again.
We have been informed that the City of Albuquerque is cancelling pickleball activities at the community centers, at least until April 15th. That means that play at the community centers of Cesar Chavez, Manzano Mesa, Wells Park, Thomas Bell, Alamosa, Don Newton/Taylor Ranch, Barelas and Los Duranes will not be available from now until at least April 15th. We will inform you when we hear of any additional changes. In addition, APS is closed, so our locations at Hoover, LBJ, Desert Ridge and Roosevelt Middle Schools are also closed.
Beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020, all Bernalillo County Community and Aquatic Centers (including pickleball at Paradise Hills, Raymond G Sanchez, Los Vecinos and Vista Grande) will be CLOSED for 30 Days, due to precautions of the COVID 19-Coronavirus. This closure may change and we will keep you updated as the information becomes available. For the best up to date County information, please check www.bernco.gov.
